Proclamation of
Proclamation of 1763, statement issued by the British government at the end of the French and Indian Wars, establishing territorial rights for North American Native Americans. It aimed both to appease the Native Americans and to prevent land disputes, but it angered (and was in many respects disregarded by) the colonists.
