Progression
Progression, in mathematics, a sequence of numbers (terms) that have a direct relationship to one another. The most common types are arithmetic, which involves addition; geometic, which involves multiplication; and harmonic, which involves fractions. Each successive term in a progression is added by or multiplied by the same number all the way through the sequence. An arithmetic progression that begins with 2, 4, and 6 will continue with 8, 10, and all successive numbers that are 2 larger than the preceding number. The same principle applies to all other types of progressions.
