Projector

Projector, machine that passes light through film to show pictures on a screen. Lenses magnify the images on the film, showing them larger than they appear on the film itself. Projectors consist of several types—slide projectors that show still photos, movie projectors that show continuously moving film, and overhead projectors such as those used in planetariums that show images in all directions above the viewers.
