Sergei Sergeyevich Prokofiev
Prokofiev, Sergei Sergeyevich (1891–1953), Russian composer who created a fierce, dynamic, unemotive style that later became somewhat softer and more eclectic. His works include seven symphonies, the operas The Love for Three Oranges (1921) and War and Peace (1943); Peter and the Wolf (1936), for narrator and orchestra; Romeo and Juliet (1936), a ballet; concertos for piano, violin, and cello; film scores; and chamber music.
