Quemoy

Quemoy, or Chin-men, island group on the Formosa Strait off southeastern China. The islands have a combined area of about 58 sq mi (150 sq km), with 2 large islands and 12 islets. The Quemoy Islands remained a Chinese Nationalist garrison after the communist takeover in 1949.
