Rafting
Rafting, water recreation that gained popularity in the 1960s. On inflatable rafts, usually 12–16 ft (3.7–5 m) long, people travel the rapid currents, or white water, of rivers. A 6-person crew guides the raft with paddles as the passengers enjoy the ride and scenery. The Colorado River, where it cuts through the Grand Canyon, is among the most popular rafting sites in the United States.
