Ayn Rand



Rand, Ayn (1905–82), U.S. writer. Her “objectivist” philosophy—individualistic, egoistic, and capitalist in inspiration—is at the core of such novels as The Fountainhead (1943) and Atlas Shrugged (1957). She also wrote non-fiction, including For the New Intellectual (1961) and Capitalism, the Unknown Ideal (1966).
