Henry Jarvis Raymond

Raymond, Henry Jarvis (1820–69), co-founder and editor of the New York Times from 1851 who took an active part in forming the Republican Party. He was in the House of Representatives for one term (1865–67), losing renomination because of his moderate stand on Reconstruction.
