John Edward Redmond
Redmond, John Edward (1856–1918), Irish politician. He succeeded Charles Stewart Parnell as Irish nationalist leader in the British parliament and secured the passage of the 1914 Home Rule bill. After the repression of the 1916 Easter Rising, he lost power to the revolutionary Sinn Fein movement.
