William Hubbs Rehnquist



Rehnquist, William Hubbs (1924– ), U.S. jurist. After serving as assistant attorney general, he was appointed (1971) by President Richard M. Nixon to the U.S. Supreme Court as an associate justice, where he became a voice of conservatism. He was made chief justice in 1986.
