Reindeer Lake



Reindeer Lake, natural body of water on the Manitoba-Saskatchewan border in Canada. It is a major commercial and recreational fishing site covering 2,444 sq mi (6,330 sq km). Reindeer Lake lies 1,150 ft (350 m) above sea level in a sparsely settled region near the furthest northern reaches of the coniferous forests. Once a major link in the waterborne transit route of fur trappers and traders, the lake feeds into the Reindeer River, a tributary of the Churchill River, which flows into Hudson Bay. Important lakeshore towns are Brochet, Manitoba, and Southend and Kinoosao, Sask.
