Remington, Frederic (1861–1909), U.S. painter, sculptor and writer chiefly known for his portrayals of the Old West, where he traveled extensively. His paintings, usually of Native Americans, cowboys, and horses, skillfully convey violent action and are notable for authenticity of detail.
