Richards, Dickinson Woodruff (1895–1973), U.S. physiologist awarded, with A.F. Cournand and Werner Forssmann, the 1956 Nobel Prize in physiology or medicine for his work with Cournand using Forssmann's catheter technique to probe the heart, pulmonary artery, and lungs.
