Conrad Richter
Richter, Conrad (1890–1968), U.S. writer of fiction and nonfiction known for his novels about life on the American frontier. In 1961 he won the National Book Award for his novel The Waters of Kronos. He is best known for his trilogy, The Awakening Land (1940–50), the story of a pioneer family living in Ohio; the third novel, The Town, won the 1950 Pulitzer Prize for literature.
