Roller

Roller, species of bird belonging to the roller family. Flocks of rollers can be found in southern Europe during the warm season and northern Africa during the cold season. Standing at 10–16 in (25–40 cm), the roller resembles—but is not closely related to—the jay. Its name derives from the mating dance of the male, which consists of a series of airborne dives and tumbles.
