Benjamin Thompson Rumford Count
Rumford, Benjamin Thompson, Count (1753–1814), U.S.-British scientist best known for his recognition of the relation between work and heat (inspired by observation of heat generated by friction during the boring of a cannon). He played a primary role in the founding of the Royal Institution (1799).
