Sage

Sage, aromatic herb or shrub of the mint family. There are several North American species, including the crimson and purple sages of California and the lyre-leaved sage of New England. Cultivated sages include bright-flowered ornamentals known by their scientific name, salvia. The common garden sage (Salvia officinalis), native to Southern Europe and Asia Minor, has grayish leaves that are used to make tea and as a seasoning.
