Salisbury
Salisbury, or New Sarum (pop. 102,500), town in Wiltshire, southern England, 80 mi (130 km) southwest of London. The original town of Old Sarum was rebuilt as New Sarum when it became a bishopric in the 13th century; Salisbury's main tourist attraction, its cathedral, dates from this time. The famous prehistoric stone circle known as Stonehenge lies 7 mi (11 km) north.
