chemical Salt
Salt, chemical, compound that is formed by a chemical reaction between an acid and a base. When a base totally neutralizes the acid with which it combines, a normal salt results. If neutralization is less than total, an acid salt or basic salt is produced. Table salt (sodium chloride) is a simple salt, a compound of a metal and a non-metal. When simple salts combine with other simple salts, double salts result.
