Salute

Salute, formal greeting to honor another person, flag or nation, done by raising the hand to the head, by firing guns or presenting arms. Salutes can include dipping of flags, tilting of airplane wings or raising a clenched fist or outstretched palm. Salutes are used mostly in the military or to show respect to a visiting dignitary.
