Salween River

Salween River, or Salwin River, river in eastern Burma, originating in eastern Tibet and flowing south 1,500 mi (2,400 km) to empty into the Bay of Bengal. A gorge makes the river largely unnavigable, but the Salween is important agriculturally, providing irrigation and flowing through a fertile delta.
