Sarcophagus
Sarcophagus, stone coffin. The ancient Egyptians were probably the first to use sarcophagi for the burial of kings and important persons. Some were shaped like small houses, others like human forms with facial features. The best-known modern examples of sarcophagi include those built for George Washington in Mt. Vernon, Napoleon Bonaparte in Paris, the duke of Wellington in London, and V.I. Lenin in Moscow.
