Saxons

Saxons, Germanic people who, with the Angles and the Jutes, founded settlements in Britain from A.D. 450 supplanting the Celts. The 3 peoples eventually formed the Anglo-Saxon kingdom. From modern Schleswig (northern Germany) the Saxons also spread along the coast to northern France before being conquered by Charlemagne (804).
