Scorpionfly

Scorpionfly, harmless insect (family Panorpidae) with transparent or colored wings and long, dangling legs. Some species are wingless. The long legs are used to trap smaller insects, which are then bitten and eaten. The caterpillar-like larvae are also flesh eaters.
