Scottish deerhound



Scottish deerhound, dog bred by the Scottish nobility since the 16th century to hunt deer. It stands 30 in (76 cm) or more and weighs 76–110 lb (34–50 kg), with a frame much like the greyhound but more heavily built. Its wiry coat is light gray to yellow brown. In the United States the breed is used to hunt wolves.
