Sea Islands
Sea Islands, chain of more than 100 islands off the coasts of South Carolina, Georgia, and Florida. Settled by the Spanish in the 16th century, the islands were the first important North American cotton-growing region in the early 19th century. Many are now resorts or wildlife sanctuaries.
