Shingles
Shingles, or herpes zoster, viral disorder of a nerve center, characterized by pain, a vesicular rash, and later scarring of the skin of the abdomen or trunk. The disorder is caused by the same virus that causes chickenpox. Predominantly striking people past age 50, it leads to an acute skin eruption that follows the path of the nerve involved.
