Sienkiewicz, Henryk (1846–1916),Polish novelist awarded the 1905 Nobel Prize in literature. His greatest works are a trilogy about 17th-century Poland—With Fire and Sword (1883), The Deluge (1886), and Pan Michael (1887–88)—and the internationally famous Quo Vadis? (1896).
