Neil Simon



Simon, Neil (1927– ), U.S. playwright whose career began with successful comedies such as Come Blow Your Horn (1961), Barefoot in the Park (1963), and The Odd Couple (1965). Many of his plays are autobiographical—including the trilogy made up of Brighton Beach Memoirs (1983), Biloxi Blues (1985), and Broadway Bound (1986)—and several have been made into movies. Simon has also written lyrics for Broadway musicals, such as Sweet Charity (1966) and They're Playing Our Song (1979). He received the Pulitzer Prize for Lost in Yonkers (1991).
