Siren

Siren, device used to create loud, shrill warning signals. Foghorns are sirens that warn of low visibility due to foggy weather conditions. Electronic devices are now often used as sirens. Older ones worked mechanically, one cylinder or disk rotating within another punctured with air holes. The motion created the sound waves.
