Alfred Sisley



Sisley, Alfred (1839–99), Anglo-French painter, a founder of impressionism. His fine landscapes and snow scenes, painted in the 1870s, often show London and Paris neighborhoods; for example, Effet de neige (1874). His work achieved wide recognition only after his death.
