Bedrich Smetana
Smetana, Bedrich (1824–84), Czech composer. Many of Smetana's compositions reflect his ardent Bohemian nationalism; best known are the comic opera The Bartered Bride (1866) and the symphonic poem Má Vlast (My Fatherland; 1874–79), which contains Vltava (The Moldau).
