Soapberry

Soapberry, species of trees and shrubs belonging to the soapberry family, grown in tropical and subtropical areas of the Americas and Asia, as well as on Pacific islands. When rubbed in water, the leaves and leathery fruits, which contain saponin, produce a soapy lather.
