Pitirim Alexandrovich Sorokin
Sorokin, Pitirim Alexandrovich (1889–1968), Russian-U.S. sociologist. He distinguished between sensate (empirical, scientific) and ideational (mystical, authoritarian) societies and wrote Social and Cultural Dynamics (1937–41).
