Sorrel

Sorrel, plant (genus Rumex) of the buckwheat family. This herbaceous perennial has sour, succulent, arrow-shaped leaves and stems that are used in soups and salads. The common American sorrel (sheep sorrel or red sorrel) grows in acid soil.
