Space-time

Space-time, concept of the physical universe arising from Einstein's special theory of relativity. Space and time are considered as a single 4-dimensional continuum rather than as a 3-dimensional space with a separate, infinite 1-dimensional time. Time thus becomes the 4th dimension. Events in space-time are analogous to points in space and invariant space-time intervals to distances in space.
