Spearmint
Spearmint, herb in the mint family. Spearmint (Mentha spicata), originally from Europe and Asia, is plentiful in North America. It grows to about 2 ft (61 cm) high and displays white to light purple flowers. The leaves, when dried, are used for cooking, baking, and flavoring beverages. Oil extracted from the leaves is used in perfume.
