Springfield

Springfield (pop. 240,593), city in southwestern Missouri, the seat of Greene County. Located at the edge of the Ozark Mountains, the city is the principal distribution and processing center for the Ozark region's mines, orchards, farmland, and timber resources, and produces a variety of related manufactures. The town was first settled in 1829.
