Sunburn

Sunburn, burning effect on the skin caused by exposure to ultraviolet radiation from the sun. First-degree burns may occur, but usually only minor discomfort results, with skin sensitivity. Repeated sunburns may cause skin cancer, including melanoma, the most dangerous variety.
