Surfing

Surfing, sport of riding a wooden or foam plastic surfboard on the incline of a wave. It requires balance, timing, and coordination. Surfing originated in Hawaii and is the oldest sport in the United States. With worldwide competitions organized by the International Surfing Committee, surfing has gained widespread popularity, particularly in the United States, Australia, Brazil, France, Japan, Mexico, and Peru.
