Gustavus Franklin Swift

Swift, Gustavus Franklin (1839–1903), U.S. businessperson. The first to slaughter cattle in Chicago for shipment east (1875), he introduced refrigerated railroad cars, founded Swift & Co., and pioneered the manufacture of meat by-products.
