Marie Taglioni



Taglioni, Marie (1804–84), Swedish-born Italian ballerina. Trained from an early age by her father, Filippo Taglioni, she gained worldwide renown for her dancing in La Sylphide (1832) at the Paris Opéra. Taglioni was noted for her innovative style and was considered a major figure during ballet's romantic era, which lasted until the mid-1840s.
