Sir Rabindranath Tagore
Tagore, Sir Rabindranath (1861–1941), Bengali Indian writer, painter, musician, and mystic who founded what is now Visva-Bharati University to blend the best in Indian and Western culture. His literary work includes many songs, poems, plays, novels, short stories, and essays. He received the 1913 Nobel Prize for literature.
