(Newton) Booth Tarkington
Tarkington, (Newton) Booth (1869–1946), U.S. writer noted for novels reflecting midwestern life and character, for example, Penrod (1914). He won Pulitzer prizes for The Magnificent Ambersons (1918) and Alice Adams (1921). Tarkington also served as an Indiana state representative (1902–03).
