Tasmanian devil

Tasmanian devil (Sarcophilus harrisi), mammal of the marsupial family, native to the Australian island of Tasmania. This nocturnal, 4-legged animal measures 3–4 ft (0.9–1.2 m) long. Like other marsupials, the female gives birth to underdeveloped babies who grow to maturity in pouches on the mother's belly. Noted for their fierceness, they have been known to attack livestock and poultry, and have been hunted for that reason.
