Tasman Sea



Tasman Sea, arm of the South Pacific Ocean, between Australia and Tasmania (east) and New Zealand (west). Named for the Dutch explorer Abel Tasman, the Tasman Sea is about 900,000 sq mi (2.3 million sq km). An underwater cable on its floor provides a key communication link between Australia and New Zealand.
