Tears

Tears, watery secretions of the lacrimal glands situated over the eyes, which provide continuous lubrication and protection of cornea and sclera. A constant flow runs across the surface of the eye to the nasolacrimal duct at the inner corner, where tears drain into the nose. Excess tears produced in states of high emotion or because of conjunctival or corneal irritation overflow over the lower eyelid.
