Tegu, or Teju, bold, quick and muscular South American lizard (genus Tupinambis). They weigh about 5 lb (2.3 kg) and grow up to 4 ft (1.2 m) in length. They have small square scales on their black-colored bodies with yellow horizontal bands over their backs.
