Thar Desert
Thar Desert, also called the Indian Desert, located in northwest India and eastern Pakistan. This desert covers 74,000 sq mi (192,000 sq km). Even though rainfall is scarce (10 in/25 cm per year on average), the Indian government has developed the Indian Gandhi canal for irrigation (completed 1986), so that crops and people may thrive in this arid region. Nuclear power facilities of India are located within the desert in Kota.
