Giovanni Battista Tiepolo
Tiepolo, Giovanni Battista (1696–1770), most renowned Venetian painter of his time, a capable craftsman, decorator, and artist of vivid, large murals. His frescoes in Labia Palace brought him widespread recognition. As a result he was commissioned by Emperor Frederick I of Bavaria and by the Spanish royalty of Madrid, where his work included the Apotheosis of Spain.
